What Do I Need to Know About CBD?
The Most Common Questions about CBD
What is CBD?
What is CBD?
Before you start taking CBD, it’s crucial that you know exactly what it is and exactly where it comes from. CBD (cannabidiol to give it its full name) is derived from the hemp plant. It is one of over 100 compounds known as cannabinoids which are found in this kind of plant. When it enters our system it interacts with our endocannabinoid system, which is responsible for functions such as regulating sleep, appetite, anxiety and pain.
Can you get 'high' from CBD?
Can you get 'high' from CBD?
No, you cannot get high from CBD. The chemical responsible for the high in weed and marijuana is called THC, the levels of THC in CBD products are incredibly low and often untraceable. Taking large doses of CBD (including taking too much) could produce side effects including an uplifting effect or sometimes nausea and dizziness. This is not the same as a high, but we advise only taking your regular dose.
Is CBD oil safe or addictive?
Is CBD oil safe or addictive?
CBD is not addictive and there is no evidence of anyone becoming addicted to CBD. The World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed in a statement that “in humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential. To date, there is no evidence of public health-related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.”
While some people can find weed and marijuana addictive, which are extracted from similar plants, this is caused by the chemical THC which is absent from CBD products.
Can you overdose on CBD?
Can you overdose on CBD?
A review from 2017 found that humans can safely tolerate a daily dose of 1500mg of CBD - however, we would strongly advise against taking this much. For reference, our CBD oil bottles contain a range of 300-2000mg of CBD. Our recommended limit on daily dose is 70mg. Do bear in mind that research in this field is constantly evolving, and if you feel any adverse effects please consult a healthcare professional.
What CBD dosage do I need, and how long does it take to feel the benefit?
What CBD dosage do I need, and how long does it take to feel the benefit?
There is no one size fits all prescription for CBD. People take this natural supplement for a variety of reasons, combine this with our varying bodies, tolerances, and functions and you begin to understand that your optimum dose of CBD will differ from the next person. We would recommend beginning with a low dose of CBD, around 10-20mg and then slowly increase this incrementally until you feel the desired effects. Do not exceed 70mg a day and stop taking the product and consult your doctor if you start to feel adverse effects.
