CBD is the abbreviated term for cannabidiol, which is a naturally occurring compound which is found and extracted from the hemp plant. CBD is one of over a hundred cannabinoids in the hemp plant, but it is the most known about and used in the wellness industry. CBD works by interacting with a system of receptors in the body which make up what is known as the endocannabinoid system.

What are cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are naturally occurring compounds that are found in the cannabis plant family. Hemp is a member of the cannabis plant family and this is where we derive our premium quality CBD extract from. There are over a hundred different types of cannabinoids found in the hemp plant, the most common being CBD and THC.

How does CBD interact with the endocannabinoid system?

The endocannabinoid system is made up of a large number of receptors located in the central nervous system, the autoimmune system and the skin. CBD is celebrated for a wide variety of wellness properties. In addition to this CBD can also help promote the normal functioning of numerous physiological functions.

Can you get 'high' from CBD?

No, you cannot get high from CBD. CBD is one of over a hundred different cannabinoids found in cannabis plants, the other well known cannabinoid is THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) which is responsible for the psychoactive effects known as a ‘high’. THC content is high in substances such as weed and marijuana, which people take with the intention of feeling mind-altering effects. Our CBD products are derived from strains of hemp with incredibly low levels of THC, which will not have any psychoactive effects and is often untraceable.

CBD products are sold as food supplements without prescription unlike medical marijuana, which requires a medical card. We recommend always to check local laws and regulations.

So it’s quite clear to see that CBD can’t exactly be put into one box when it comes to its properties and capabilities, and this is why CBD is available in many different sizes, shapes and forms depending on what you want to use it for and which particular benefit you are looking to experience. What strength CBD oil should I use UK?

Optimal CBD dosage differs from person to person. Similar to appetite, it can depend on numerous factors including height, weight, metabolism, energy levels and activities carried out throughout the day. Finding your own optimal strength and optimal dosage is a task that can take a small amount of time but is in every way worth it. We recommend starting with a lower dosage, around 25mg, and taking one serving a day. Observe how this feels when repeated for a few days and then slowly increase your dosage in increments. It is recommended total no more than 70 mg CBD is taken daily from all sources.

Our CBD products are available in a range of strengths, from 10mg to 50mg per serving. If you are using CBD oils then you can adapt your serving size by the smallest amount using the dropper. And if you’re taking CBD capsules you can increase your serving by an exact premeasured amount in the capsule.

This is why finding your own personal optimal is so key in the path to a successful CBD journey.

What percentage of CBD oil is best?

You may have noticed on CBD product labels there is a percentage, which varies from product to product. If you are not familiar with what this is, it is the percentage of CBD extract in the product, which will ultimately translate into the dosage and potency of a serving of CBD from this product. Sometimes, often with capsules and gummies, this number will be presented as an amount in mg - this is the exact amount of CBD in either a serving size or the product as a whole.

The optimum dosage of CBD differs from person to person, similar to appetite it can depend on your physiology, metabolism, energy levels and activities carried out that day. It is recommended that no more than 70 mg CBD is taken daily from all sources. Finding your optimum dosage may not be instantaneous and you may have to invest time into doing so, but we can tell you that this will certainly be time well spent.

The effectiveness of CBD is like a bell curve, it increases incrementally up until the optimal point - after this, the effectiveness steadily drops off. This is why it is important to take the time to increase your dosage slowly while keeping track of the effects. If you’re trying CBD for the first time we would recommend starting with 25mg and slowly increasing after a few days.

What does full spectrum mean on CBD oil?

CBD oil is a combination of CBD extract and a natural carrier oil. As you may have come to understand, there is not just one type of CBD extract. There are actually three different types of CBD extract.

CBD (cannabidiol) is one of over a hundred cannabinoids found naturally occurring in the hemp plant. And cannabinoids are not the only substances, there are also flavinoids and terpenes which have an effect on how the extract tastes and smells as well as the general effect of the extract.

This is what the differing types of extract are called and how they differ from one another:

Full spectrum: this extract contains all the natural substances, meaning every cannabinoid, terpene and flavonoid, which is found in the hemp plant. The reason for keeping these together is that when the chemical structure of the extract represents that natural structure (i.e. that of the plant) it allows the components to work together, synergising and enhancing the overall effect. This is known as the entourage effect.

Isolate: it was initially thought that it would be most effective to extract only the CBD molecules to be included in the CBD extract, this type of extract is known as isolate. Isolate is much less common now that it has been discovered that the effectiveness of CBD is enhanced by the other naturally occurring compounds.

Broad spectrum: the two best-known cannabinoids are CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). THC is known for its mind-altering, psychoactive effects, the effects which are generally associated with marijuana as a recreational drug. Broad spectrum extract contains all the other natural cannabinoids, flavonoids and terpenes and an undetectable amount of THC.

Is full spectrum CBD oil legal in UK?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is completely legal in the UK. It is not a controlled substance and therefore it is legal to not only posses, but also to sell.

Full spectrum extract contains all the cannabinoids, flavinoids and terpenes found naturally occurring in the hemp plant. Full spectrum extract has a trace amount of THC.

The case for keeping all these components together is that when they present in the same structure as they appear in the hemp plant they have been found to synergise and produce a greater effect. This phenomenon is often referred to as the entourage effect.

When buying a full spectrum CBD product please do check the labelling. This can be verified with the documentation from independent third party laboratory testing. All reputable and trusted CBD companies should be investing in independent third party testing to promote quality and transparency, this documentation (known as certificates of analysis or COAs) should be readily available on the manufacturer’s website.

What is the best CBD oil on the market?

For the past few years, the CBD market has been growing and growing. There are now seemingly infinite numbers of companies and products on the market.

Here is how to spot the best products on the market:

▫️ Certificate of Analysis: these documents show the results of third party independent laboratory tests which profile all the chemical components of each batch of a product. COAs show that a company is transparent in their manufacturing and production processes as well as consistent from batch to batch of product.

▫️ Customer reviews: these are the most authentic accounts that you receive aside from experiencing the product for yourself. When someone writes a customer review they have no incentive aside from letting other fellow customers know whether this is a good or bad product and whether it is worth spending your money on. Try and read reviews on a third party website such as TrustPilot or Amazon where one must have purchased the product in order to write reviews, this way you can trust that they are authentic.

▫️ A face to a name: knowing who is in the team behind the creating of the products you are going to start incorporating into your daily life adds an invaluable layer of trust. Buying from a faceless organisation can feel precarious, try and look for brands who are open about who is on their team and what drew them to the world of CBD.

Amazon is the world’s market place and new vendors are constantly joining and adding their products to the website. While choice is one of today’s greatest luxuries, sometimes it can be useful to have some helpful tips on how to find the best product, and in this case the best CBD oil, on sites such as Amazon UK.

Here are our top two tips:

1. Read the reviews - reviews are the most authentic and accurate portrayal of the experience relating to a particular product. This includes the online shopping components of purchasing, packaging and delivery as well as using the product and the effects it has. From this, you will be able to accurately gauge how good a product is and whether it is good value for money. It is important to remember that people who are writing customer reviews are doing it purely to look out for and advise their fellow customers.

2. Research the product - doing some extra research can never harm you, in fact, the more checks you do, the greater reassurance you will have that you picked the right product. When shopping for CBD oil on Amazon UK, you will be able to see the brand name and the manufacturer. Take things a step further by researching the brand, to understand where else their products are sold and whether they’re high quality.
